Aftermarket Lower Steering Column Shaft and Joints for 2002-2006 R50 MINI Cooper, R53 Cooper S, and 2005-2008 R52 Cabrio. If you have notchy steering or dead spots in the steering this can very well be the cause. We've also found these can be noisy. All these problems are caused by the U joints on the ends of this lower steering column shaft wearing. This is an aftermarket version rather than the original MINI one and hense why the cost is so much more affordable.

Poor fitment
This part feels like it’s made very well and maybe I received a bad one but the fitment was not even close for the knuckle that attaches to the the steering rack. I fought for several hours trying to get this to fit and after complaring to the factory unit, not only was opening not wide enough to fit onto the steering race, the tabs where the bolt goes themselves were too tall and would not fit the male end of the steering rack.
