OS Giken Twin Disc Clutch kit for 2002-2006 R53 MINI Cooper S and R52 Cooper S Convertible. The STR twin Clutch line-up was designed to hold high capacity power while still retaining a relatively light clutch pedal. This technology was driven from our racer's demand for a lighter clutch during long endurance races in Japan. Heavy clutch pedals lead to driver fatigue during long endurance racing. The MINI Giken Twin plate dampened clutches give some forgiveness to the transmission by absorbing drivetrain shock while providing reliability and strength under heavy abuse. The end result is a quiet and reliable clutch set that will go years before needing overhaul. The OS Giken twin disc is good up to about 575 lbs ft torque maximum. In order to properly develop a clutch system to maximize drivetrain performance, OS Giken determined that it would be most effective to engineer and manufacture clutch kits as a clutch/flywheel package. By doing so, a clutch kit can be installed which has already been properly matched to your MINI. Additionally, the design, engineering and manufacturing of OS Giken clutch kits promote improved durability (through friction plate material which is carefully selected and alloyed so that the plates match with the materials of the flywheel and center plate), maintained drivability (through revised leverage mechanisms to provide higher disk pressure while reducing pedal effort), increased longevity (through a superior design and usage of extra manufacturing processes for strengthening).
