This is a brand new rear hatch or tail gate hinge. As you can see in the pictures it is black in color as I believe it's a black primer paint. At the factory these hinges were painted with the body, then the roof is painted later at the factory in white or black so you always see the original body color show through. Look at pictures as this is the newer flat steel style not the curved early version, but will work as they discontinued the early version.

If your MINI was made before March of 2006 they use a stampted metal looking hinge that will look totally different than this, but you can still use this style as a replacement since the early one is discontinued.
