Got a coolant leak around the water pump on your 02-06 R53 MINI Cooper S or 05-08 R52 Cabrio S? This may very well be the cause. We've seen many of these leak. These are the most common leak other than the thermostat. Also if your removing the water pump for any reason you NEED to replace this o-ring. It is very prone to leak if reused.
